Most of the switches in cars and aircrafts are illuminated so they can be seen at night with backlight. Those switches are made with translucent white plastic painted in black, then laser removes paint in areas where art needs to show up.  There are different ways to do back lit illuminated switches but we prefer using fiber laser as it will only affect dark colors. Same method is used for laptop keyboard engravings. Modular back lit switches and tumblers are usually used in ambulances, police cars and RVs

If you doing custom build vape box and want to brand it with your company logo then fiber laser engraving on aluminum is your best choice  to add reliable not removable marking.  When laser beam hits anodized coating on aluminum it turns to a whitish color.
